EDIT: End Discrimination in Inheritance Tax
Equality in Inheritance Tax for childless citizens
EDIT - Who Are We?
We are ordinary individuals from all walks of life throughout Ireland - with one thing in common:
We do not have children.
We have come together as a group to campaign for equality in the inheritance tax system.
We are not politically aligned.
We actively lobby political representatives, engage with other organisations and interest groups and promote awareness of this critical issue with local and national media.
Why EDIT?
There are many reasons why a person may not have children. For many people, this may not be a choice. Successive governments have chosen to take advantage of these citizen's by targeting them in its inheritance tax policy. This is the essence of discrimination.
Childless citizens have been lobbying for reform individually for many years. EDIT is a network of these individuals and a culmination of this work.
The time has come when the voices of people without children and all kinds of 'families' need to be heard and reflected in government policy.
What We Want
- Reform of the inheritance tax (CAT) system to end discrimination for childless citizens.
- Equal Treatment in Inheritance Tax regardless of family status.
